Unidad 1. Sesión 3. Actividad 2

Hello Ann Mary,

My name is David Villagran, I currently work as a service desk associate at CompuCom, an IT services company, and I choose to study Software Development Engineering because of two main reasons:

  1. When you start working on IT you have several paths that you can follow, like specialties or specialty areas, so to speak, for example: you can choose to be a network engineer, a systems admin, server admin, security specialist or a software programmer (among others), and each one of them has its own sub-specialty areas as well. So, if I must choose what the next step on my career would be, I feel more lean towards software development engineering. Although, having said that, we all have to know a little bit about each area to complement ours.

  1. I’ve always felt attraction for disciplines that combine technical and scientific knowledge with creative processes, and that is the case for software development engineering, there is a technical foundation, you are thought several investigation methods to solve problems along the way, plus you have to learn things like calculus and software programming languages, but it is not all technical, since there are a lot of practical uses and sets of problems to solve, this is where the creative part of software development comes in.  All of this knowledge and tools are applied to basically everything that uses software, which in this day and age, is practically everything!, and that is what fascinates me the most. So, those are my reasons for choosing this career.

I was glad to read your invitation to collaborate on this activity. It helped me practicing my english and I had a great time doing it.

Here is my Voki:

Best regards,

David Villagran
